     De gouden jaren 1981 - 1985
    Gilgamesj had their "golden" period during the fist part of the 80's. Playing live was their main goal and they played an incredible amount of live gigs during that time. The band had a very loyal group of fans following them everywhere, they even had their own fanclub complete with a fanclubmagazine.

    There was also time for record-work. They made one EP ("take one" 1984) and participated on 2 other productions.

    The line up changed 3 times during that period: in 1981 bassplayer Dick Stam left het band, he was replaced by Jan Vos. In december 1981 Anton van der Ham left the band, he was not replaced. In may 1984 Henny van Santen left, he was replaced by Stanly Sanders.


    Gilgamesj beleefde hun gouden periode in de eerste helft van de jaren tachtig. De muzieksoort was populair en in die tijd trad de band onvoorstelbaar veel op. En dat was tevens hun voornaamste doel. Ze hadden een trouwe aanhang die de band overal naartoe volgde en er was een heuse fanclub compleet met fanclubdagen en een eigen fanclubblad.

    Het was ook een productieve periode aangaande het uitbrengen van plaatmateriaal. Ze maakten 1 EP ("Take One" in 1984) en deden mee op 2 verzamelprojecten.

    De bezetting veranderde 3 keer in die periode. Halverwege 1981 verliet Dick Stam de band en werd vervangen door Jan Vos. Eind 1981 verliet Anton van de Ham de band. Halverwege 1984 tenslotte vertrok Henny van Santen, zijn plaats werd ingenomen door Stanly Sanders. We lopen de periode van jaar tot jaar door.

    Na de fanclubdag op 28 mei 1983 in Asperen ging de band zich volledig focussen op de opnamen van
    de EP Take One in december. In 1983 werd daarom behoudens een optreden in de UFO in Sliedrecht
    (7 oktober) niet meer live gespeeld.

          Kort na het uitbrengen van Take One verliet Henny van Santen de band en werd vervangen door
          Stanly Sanders. Tijd voor nieuwe promotiefoto's en een nieuw achtergrond doek. Onderstaande
          foto's zijn echter nooit voor publicatie gebruikt.
